FNA General Membership Meetings
Monthly General Membership Meeting: Thursday, June 17 at 6:30pm** **Because of the length of the meeting we will actually be starting at 6:30 & will not have the usual meet & greet beforehand. Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in.
Our next general membership meeting will held on Thursday, June 17 at 6:30pm at the Fishtown Rec Center. This month we will continue to bring you an update on the traffic & construction issues around the neighborhood. We will have presentations from both SEPTA & the Philadelphia Water Dept. SEPTA will provide an update on the planned changes to public transit in Fishtown, inclusing the extension of the trolley tracks down Frankford Ave. to Delaware Ave. and the replacement of trolley service on Girard Ave. during the I-95 construction. PWD will provide general background on the Green City Clean Waters Plan before discussing more specifically its projects in the neighborhood, including bumpouts, storm water management and the work currently underway at Delaware & Frankford. In light of the anticipated length of the meeting, we plan to start at 6:30, allotting approximately one hour for each presentation. We hope you can join us for what we hope will be a very informative session.
Community Meeting Regarding Local Traffic Issues:
Wednesday, June 23 at 7:00 pm, First Presbyterian Church, 418 Girard Ave.
Due to significant interest during our May General Membership Meeting & the information we expect to receive at the June General Membership Meeting, we will be hosting a follow-up meeting with interested neighborhood residents regarding future traffic patterns through the neighborhood when Sugarhouse opens. The meeting will take place on Wednedsay, June 23 at 7:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church at 418 E. Girard Ave. During this meeting, we plan to discuss current traffic patterns and solicit feedback from neighbors on things that the streets department could do to minimize the effects of casino traffic on the neighborhood. This can include a range of options, from simple measures such as size and location of signs, placement of surveillance and traffic cameras, and changing the direction of or blocking streets, to other options such as raised walkways or electric gates. We anticipate that the most affected areas will likely be Riverside (from Girard to the River from Frankford to Aramingo) and the streets near Aramingo from Delaware Ave. to York St. where the new 95 offramps will drop off and pick up traffic. We will provide a blow-up of the affected streets for comment and discussion and will take notes and make sure your feedback gets to the city. All residents of Fishtown are welcome and encouraged to attend.
