FNA General NewsAt the November, 2008 Fishtown Neighbors Association meeting, the membership voted to send letters to Mayor Nutter, the three City Councilpersons that represent Fishtown (Councilman Clarke, Councilman DiCicco, and Councilwoman Sanchez), and all at-large Council members protesting the closure of city libraries. Save the Fishtown Library rally and march

FNA General News

On Sunday, November 23rd, Fishtown residents rallied again in front of the Fishtown library to protest the permanent closing of our branch and the ten others to be sacrificed as part of Philadelphia's budget cuts. The ralliers were joined by at-large Councilman Bill Green and State Representative Mike O'Brien. In addition to getting an update on the latest efforts to save the library, the crowd was treated to a skit courtesty of the Walking Fish Theatre.  After the rally, participants marched to the Kensington Library to demonstrate that the distance between the branches, which looks close on paper, isn't actually viable for kids, senior citizens, and those who can't afford public transit.
